Dr Tamara Hussain is a Chartered Educational and Child Psychologist with over a decade of experience supporting children and young people with developmental, educational, and mental health needs. As an associate with NeuroKids, Dr Hussain specialises in consultation, assessment, and tailored interventions that empower children and families to navigate complex challenges and achieve positive outcomes.
Dr Hussain holds a Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology from the University of East London and is a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). With a professional foundation as a secondary-trained teacher, she brings a unique perspective to understanding and managing behaviour, attention, cognitive and academic ability, and social-emotional needs.
Her work is driven by a passion for integrating neuroscientific research into practice, with her doctoral research exploring how advancements in neuroscience can deepen our understanding of children’s learning and development. A published author, Dr Hussain co-authored 'Essentials in Neuroscience: Key Directions for Educational Psychologists', demonstrating her dedication to bridging research and practical application.
Dr Hussain’s therapeutic approach combines evidence-based methodologies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and personal construct psychology. She is skilled in delivering professional training, including neuroscience-based strategies to support learning and development. Dr Hussain’s collaborative, systemic, and compassionate approach ensures tailored, effective support for children and young people with diverse needs.
