A Bit About Me

Dr Gina Wieringa is a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for working with children and supporting individuals affected by stroke, traumatic brain injuries, dementia, and other neurological conditions. Currently working towards the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN), Dr Wieringa combines her expertise in neuropsychological assessment and evidence-based therapies to help individuals and families navigate the complexities of cognitive and emotional challenges.

As an associate with NeuroKids, Dr Wieringa conducts comprehensive assessments—evaluating memory, attention, language, and problem-solving skills—to inform personalised treatment plans. She integrates a range of therapeutic approaches, including Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to promote emotional adjustment, improve cognitive functioning, and foster holistic recovery.

Dr Wieringa’s commitment to a collaborative and holistic model of care is evident in her extensive work within multidisciplinary teams across both the NHS and private practice. She recognises the barriers many individuals face in accessing coordinated care and advocates for timely therapeutic interventions that support wider rehabilitation goals. Dr Wieringa also emphasises the importance of involving families and carers in each stage of the process, ensuring that systemic support is in place to facilitate ongoing adjustment and wellbeing following a brain injury.

With a strong academic foundation, including a First-Class BSc in Psychology, Dr Wieringa has contributed to research on living with Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease—her findings published in peer-reviewed journals. Through her clinical work, research, and dedication to person-centered care, Dr Wieringa remains committed to improving outcomes and advocating for the needs of individuals and their families affected by neurological conditions.
